North Platte, Ne - Former Nascar Driver Kyle Petty is bringing his 2024 Kyle Petty Charity Ride Accross America through Nebraska on Saturday, May 4. The more than 150 motorcycle riders will be stopping for the night at the Holiday Inn Express in North Platte around 7pm and will setting up an area in the parking lot for fans to gather and meet and greet with many of the celebrity's making the trip.
Among the celebrities participating in the 2024 Ride are NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Hershel McGriff; former NASCAR drivers Max Papis, David Ragan, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace; former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker; and TV personalities Rick Allen who is from Nebraska and Rutledge Wood.
That same evening Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will drive in the stock car races at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte.

North Platte, Neb. - The Nebraska VR North Platte office invites the public to attend a meet and greet Thursday, April 18th from 1:00-3:00pm in North Platte. The event will take place at 200 South Silber Building 2. The Nebraska VR provides opportunities for people with disabilities to succeed. The meet and greet is an opportunity for employers to connect with Nebraska VR but also Indvidual's to learn more about what Nebraska VR has to offer.

Topics included the approval of the bids for the tennis/pickleball courts at Cody Park, approving the supplement to small cell master license agreement with Verizon Wireless and more.

North Platte, Neb. - The Guardians of the Children are getting ready for the 8th Annual Child Abuse Awareness and Family Appreciation Day this Saturday from 11:00am - 2:00pm at the D&N Event Center in North Platte. The event is free for the public to attend. The event known as the "bike event" is a great way to give children a brand-new bike. Many businesses and organizations have donated brand new bikes to the Guardians of the Children.

North Platte, Neb. - The Mid-Plains United Way is preparing to announce the 2024-2025 agency partners as the board is finalizing the last presentations from non-profits who submitted in an application. The new agencies will be announced sometime next week. As the campaign year ends, the united way is around $169,000 out of the $200,000 goal and making a last push effort.
Folks can now donate monthly if they like or May 8th is Giving Day which the united way will be a part of. As details become available, Mid-Plains United Way is preparing to host an event in June called human tractor pull. The event will run during NebraskaLand Days.

North Platte, Neb. - Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) North Platte location is hosting the Knights BBQ Cookoff on April 20th on the NPCC South Campus pavilion. Public activities will be available during the cookoff which are set to kick off at 4:00pm, 6:00pm is when the meal will be served and awards for the competition will take place at 7:30. Rascal Martinez, an alum of MPCC will be performing live music around 6:00pm.
MPCC numbers for the competition are low and are looking for anywhere from 5-15 teams to join the competition. If numbers remain low, the event will no longer have a competition but those in attendance will still receive a meal. If you would like to register a team, click here. A meal will cost $10 a plate and you can purchase your ticket ahead by clicking here. A decision will be made on Monday, April 15th whether a BBQ competition will take place or not.
