North Platte, Neb. - Last week, Nebraska State Treasurer Tom Briese made a road trip around Nebraska and made a stop in North Platte. During his stop in North Platte, State Treasure Briese popped into the Eagle Communications studio to talk about different programs his office has to offer, tax scam signs, unclaimed property, bills in the Nebraska Legislature and so much more.

OGALLALA - The Keith County Area Development (KCAD) is hosting a celebratory event Wednesday, March 27th for Keith County entrepreneurs. The event is taking place at Second Chapter Brewing in Ogallala from 4:00-6:00pm (MT). The event is free to attend. The event was designed to bring together Keith County entrepreneurs to network and bounce ideas off each other and more.

The event is on Saturday March 30th from 9:00am - 11:00am. Registration will begin at 9:00am with the egg hunt starting at 9:30am. It's free to participate. Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with North Platte Mayor Brandon Kelliher as they recapped the March 20th, North Platte City Council meeting. After talking through the agenda, the duo discussed the upcoming post office meeting next week and Mayor Kelliher gives a broad update on the upcoming election year.
NORTH PLATTE - The North Platte city council held a regular meeting on March 20th and different agendas were discussed amongst the council. Topics discussed were a new format of agenda for the city council agenda, parking ordinance for the Willow Street Via Duct and a wetland purchase agreement for Tall Grass Company.

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Olivia Dobesh, Tuesday Allen and Enlai Hou who are students on the North Platte Student Council. The North Platte Student Council is hosting a Light Up the Night 5k and Mile with the proceeds for the event going to Make A Wish Nebraska.
The race is March 30rd at Cody Park in North Platte. The run is set to begin at 7:15pm. To run the 5K it costs $28 while the mile costs $15. If you would like to register for the event, click here. To learn more about the event, check out the podcast below.

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with 4-H'er Halzee Etherton and 4-H Development Extension Educator Caitlyn Jacobson about the 4-H Barn Quilts project.
NORTH PLATTE - 4-H is America's largest youth development program across the United States that helps learn skills that will last a lifetime. The age requirement for 4-H is the ages of 8-18. There are many different categories that 4-H'ers can participate in during their time in the program including barn quilts. Barn quilts are unique as they're woodwork, not a blanket.
Hazlee Etherton, a 7th grader at Hershey Public Schools has been involved with 4-H for 6 years. Last summer, she took home the blue ribbon for barn quilts and already has in mind what she wants to use for her project for this upcoming fair season. Etherton is also involved with many different categories in 4-H.

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Mid-Plains United Way Executive Director Haven Smith for their weekly conversation but discussed in depth of the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 30th at Pals Brewing in North Platte and a look into some of the prizes that can be potential won. Smith also gives the listens an update on how much money has been raised so for the 2023-2024 Mid-Plains United Way campaign.
