Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with councilmen Ty Lucas about the September 19th North Platte City Council.
NORTH PLATTE - The September 19th North Platte City Council meeting has officially passed by. This week's city council meeting was a rather quick one as there was not a whole lot of agenda to discuss. The approval of fireworks for the North Platte Public Schools was granted, Ty Lucas also talks about user fees, another discussion was the housing problem in North Platte, and finally Lucas gave his perspective from the Union Pacific rail car that caught on fire last Thursday.

OGALLALA, NEB. - The Ogallala Regional Arts Council is getting ready to kick off their season of performances beginning with a concert coming up this Thursday, September 21st at 7:00 pm with Branden and James with Effie Passero. Branden and James are a cello and vocal due that travel around the United States and perform at concerts and events. Effie Passero is a singer who joins Branden and James at times when performing at events and concerts.
The event is taking place at the Ogallala Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the event cost $15 for adults and $7 for students. If you already purchased a membership, that would get you into the show. Memberships for the Ogallala Regional Arts Council will be sold at the show. Post News Director Canon Rath talked with Prairie Arts Center Executive Holly Carlini about the upcoming tailgate taking place this Saturday during the Nebraska V.S. Louisiana Tech game.
NORTH PLATTE - The Prairie Arts Center will be holding its last ever football tailgate this Saturday when Nebraska takes on Louisiana Tech. The annual tailgate takes place in the parking lot on the big screen. The event which started during the 2017 spring game has been a big hit for the PAC. As time moves forwards, so does yearly events but the PAC wants this tailgate to go out with a bang.
Teams will be competing against one another to take home the top prize. The event begins at 2:00 pm central and tickets are $10. Bring a lawn chair to the event. For more information about the tailgate, check out the podcast above.

The group discusses what the Central Nebraska Real Estate Meetup is and how anyone can get involved.
NORTH PLATTE - The September Central Nebraska Real Estate Meetup is September 14th at Another's Round located at the Rivers Edge Golf Course in North Platte. The event is set to begin at 7:00pm with guest speaker Mike McCann. After the conclusion of the guest speaker is when it's time to socialize and network with other attendees at the event.
The event is designed to link with folks and help create networks. "The Central Nebraska Real Estate Meetup is a networking event," said Wayne Connell. "It's a meet and great and we take a little bit of time, we have a speaker that discusses something real estate related, invest related that's related to real estate and we do that for about 20-30 minutes than the rest of the time its networking."
The event is free for everyone to attend. This event is a great opportunity for folks who want to learn more about real estate or for folks who have a general knowledge, but it's a great opportunity to network with other folks. The event is September 14th at Another Round at the Rivers Edge Golf Course in North Platte with the event to start at 7. Ogallala, Neb - Indian Hills Manor and WEL-Life Assisted Living in Ogallala have teamed up for an afternoon of fun, food and festivities coming up on September 22 at the WEL-Life Parking Lot at 1610 North Spruce in Ogallala. The event will run from 11am-3pm. It's open to all resident, their friends, families and employees of Indian Hills Manor and WEL-Life.
Derek Beck was joined by Grace Hoffman/Indian Hills Manor and Carla Dominick/WEL-Life to visit about the upcoming block party.

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with dynamic duo Jan Cox and Sue Brot about the upcoming Gift of Hope Cancer Foundation 20th Annual Fundraiser September 19th at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in North Platte.
NORTH PLATTE - The 20th Annual Fundraiser for the Gift of Hope Cancer Foundation is set for September 19th at the Lincoln County Fairground. The event is to help raise money for folks in the western part of the state with their battle with cancer. The event will feature a prime rib dinner and two complimentary drink tickets that can be used for beer or wine.
There will also be auctions of items throughout the evening. The schedule is looking like this: 5:00pm is Social Hour, 6:00pm is dinner, with the auction to follow. Kim Baxter will be performing live music throughout the event. Tickets are $25 (you can call Jan Cox to purchase those. Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with MPCC Roughstock Coach Aukai Kaai and MPCC Rodeo student-athlete Koby Jackson about the MPCC Stampede. The event is a three-day event beginning September 14th - September 16th at the Wild West Arena in North Platte.
NORTH PLATTE - The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo team is hosting the 2023 Stampede this Thursday - Saturday at the Wild West Arena in North Platte. The event is scheduled to feature competitors from 14 different colleges in 5 states will be competing in events like team roping, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, and so much more.
Sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, the Stampede is a qualifying event, meaning any points contestants earn at the competition will count toward an end-of-year shot at the College National Finals Rodeo. The Sept. 14 performance will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by slack - the overflow of events from the main rodeo. Sept. 15-16, slack will start at 9 a.m., and the main performances will be at 7 p.m.
Admission to get in is $10 a day or $20 for a three-day pass. Children ages 10 and under get in for FREE. Employees of MPCC or college students get in for free with their college ID. North Platte/Sandhills Post News Director Canon Rath caught up with Ezri Bay and 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator Caitlyn Jacobson about the 4-H Dog Skillathon category.
NORTH PLATTE - 4-H is America's largest youth development program across the United States that helps learn skills that will last a lifetime. The age requirement for 4-H is the ages of 8-18. There are many different categories that 4-H'rs can participate in during their time in the program. A unique category is Dog Skillathon.
The Dog Skillathon contest is an opportunity that 4-H'rs can patriciate and test their knowledge of dogs. "It's a giant mess test and it's kind of interesting and so you walk in this big room and there's a whole bunch of tables with different activities," said 4-H'r Ezri Bay. "They hand you a test and you go to one of the tables and at each table there's like questions and photos that go with you questions and you have to answer those."
