North Platte Post News Director Canon Rath caught up with Deb Egenberger about the 2023 Friends Festival being held in Gothenburg in September.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The community of Gothenburg will be hosting a Friends Festival theme from September13th - September 17th. All the events are related to the Friends TV show that aired from 1994 to 2004 lasting 10 seasons. Throughout the five-day festival, there are plenty of events for everyone to enjoy.
This year's festival is something new coming to the Gothenburg community. "Gothenburg has hosted the harvest festival in town for over 100 years and it's our annual fall festival like other small towns have," said Deb Egenberger. "This year we landed on the Friends theme, so it's a Friends fest and most of our activities are connected to the Friends television show."

North Platte Post News Director talked with Nebraska State Education President Jenni Benson about the Support Our Schools campaign.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The Support Our Schools campaign have been out gathering signatures the past 90 days to try to get the bill LB 753 on the 2024 ballot so Nebraska votes can vote on the bill. LB753 is the opportunity scholarship act and commits $50 million in tax credits for scholarships to kids across Nebraska with priority for scholarships going to kids who live in poverty, foster care, experience bullying, harassment, or other victimizing behaviors, or have a parent or guardian who is serving in the military.
Support our schools is against the bill as they favor public tax dollars should stay with public schools, not private schools. The signatures will be delivered Wednesday, August 30th at 9 am to the Secretary of State's Election Office. To learn more about Support Our Schools, check out the podcast above.

OGALLALA, NEB. - Second Chapter Brewing in Ogallala is hosting a Pop-Up Party this Sunday from 12 pm - 6 pm mountain time. The event, which is free to the public and family friend will offer vendors, brew sampling, and a food truck will be in attendance.
The event is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to get together and support the community. "As entrepreneurs ourselves, we really want to support the local community and help other entrepreneurs to get there works in front of a different audience," said Lisa Kraus. "This will be a lot of fun and their will be something for everyone at the brewery and it's going to be a great day labor day weekend.
The Pop-Up Party at Second Chapter Brewing in Ogallala will be from 12 pm - 6 pm this Sunday. The brewery is located at 203 West A Street in Ogallala. NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The 2023 Makers Craft and Vendor Fair is going on from 10 am - 3 pm this Sunday in downtown Sutherland. The event will feature over 60 different vendors and there will be lots of different items being sold at the event. There will be a kid's zone to drop your kids off and let them play while you shop. NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The Hershey Fall Festival is set to begin this Friday and the event will run through Saturday. Even though Saturday is the main day for activities, there are all activities all weekend long. The activities are geared for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
The town and residents are ready to welcome guests into its community to celebrate its yearly fest. "We are ready to go, It's a big deal that we kind of built up all year and now the week is here, and we can't wait to get started and share a little bit of Hershey with everyone," said Justin Petska.
The parade will kick things off Saturday in downtown Hershey. With events all day, wrapping up the evening is the Muscadine Bloodline concert with guest Drew Philips. "The concert will wrap up the event that night," said Petska. "It's right on main street and feel free to bring your own chair."

NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The 2023 Hershey Fall Festival in Hershey starts this Friday and runs through Sunday. Saturday is the main day of the festival with different events for everyone in the family to enjoy. The golf tournament kicks things off Friday. Saturday morning is the parade, and the cap the evening on is the concert.
The event is one that is everyone in Hershey and the surrounding areas look forward to every year. "We are ready to go, its a big deal that we build up all year and now the week is here", said Justin Petska. "We can't wait to share a little bit of Hershey with everyone and bring some people in."
This year concert is being performed by Muscadine Bloodline with Drew Phillips as the opener. The concert will take place on main street. Tickets can still be purchased. North Platte News Director Canon Rath talked with Dee Nichelson about the Battle of Non-Profits event taking place August 26th at Pals Brewing Company.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 3rd Annual Battle of the Non-Profits event is taking place August 26th at Pals Brewing Company in North Platte. The event features 8 teams all of non-profits to battle it out in games to win the first-place prize of $1,250.
The Battle of the Non-Profits was put together so non-profits can get recognition. "The purpose of the event is to promote and support local non-profit organizations and we do that battling between the different organizations with a fun event," said Executive Director Dee Nichelson. "We can earn funds from and also get some exposure out there to the community."
The event is still looking for volunteers to help with the Battle of the Non-Profits. They are still looking for two non-profit teams who would like to participate. If you want to learn more about the Battle of the Non-Profits, check out the podcast above.

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 2023 Woofstock event is taking place this Saturday at Memorial Park in North Platte from 10 am - 2 pm. This is the 15 year of the event and is the first time it's taken place since 2019. It missed the last few years due to Covid. It is a friendly reminder that all dogs do need to be on a leash and no cats to be brought to the park for the safety of the dogs and cats.
There are plenty of different activities for dogs and humans to enjoy. The splash pad will be open for dogs and humans to play. It's supposed to be a hot day, so the splash pad offers a way to cool down. Also there will be ice cream for the humans and ice cream for the dogs to enjoy. Raffle tickets are being sold.
