North Platte Post News Director Canon Rath talked with Justin Petska about the upcoming Hershey Fall Festival this weekend.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB. - The 2023 Hershey Fall Festival in Hershey starts this Friday and runs through Sunday. Saturday is the main day of the festival with different events for everyone in the family to enjoy. The golf tournament kicks things off Friday. Saturday morning is the parade, and the cap the evening on is the concert.
The event is one that is everyone in Hershey and the surrounding areas look forward to every year. "We are ready to go, its a big deal that we build up all year and now the week is here", said Justin Petska. "We can't wait to share a little bit of Hershey with everyone and bring some people in."
This year concert is being performed by Muscadine Bloodline with Drew Phillips as the opener. The concert will take place on main street. Tickets can still be purchased. North Platte News Director Canon Rath talked with Dee Nichelson about the Battle of Non-Profits event taking place August 26th at Pals Brewing Company.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 3rd Annual Battle of the Non-Profits event is taking place August 26th at Pals Brewing Company in North Platte. The event features 8 teams all of non-profits to battle it out in games to win the first-place prize of $1,250.
The Battle of the Non-Profits was put together so non-profits can get recognition. "The purpose of the event is to promote and support local non-profit organizations and we do that battling between the different organizations with a fun event," said Executive Director Dee Nichelson. "We can earn funds from and also get some exposure out there to the community."
The event is still looking for volunteers to help with the Battle of the Non-Profits. They are still looking for two non-profit teams who would like to participate. If you want to learn more about the Battle of the Non-Profits, check out the podcast above.

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 2023 Woofstock event is taking place this Saturday at Memorial Park in North Platte from 10 am - 2 pm. This is the 15 year of the event and is the first time it's taken place since 2019. It missed the last few years due to Covid. It is a friendly reminder that all dogs do need to be on a leash and no cats to be brought to the park for the safety of the dogs and cats.
There are plenty of different activities for dogs and humans to enjoy. The splash pad will be open for dogs and humans to play. It's supposed to be a hot day, so the splash pad offers a way to cool down. Also there will be ice cream for the humans and ice cream for the dogs to enjoy. Raffle tickets are being sold. North Platte Post News Director Canon Rath talked with North Platte Mayor Brandon Kelliher as they recapped the August 15th, North Platte City Council meeting.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The August 15th North Platte City Council meeting has officially come and gone and there were different discussion points from the meeting. From the latest city council meeting, there were different agenda the council talked about. A few of the different agenda topics were 4 grant applications, a quality growth fund for 2 new business, interlocal agreements for 911 services and resource officers in schools were just a few from the agenda list.
A big part of the meeting was requesting permission from the council to apply for 4 different grants. "The initial 4 were applications to the federal government, 4 grants in millions I think total amount was $70 million or so we are requesting," said North Platte Mayor Brandon Kelliher. "It's highly unlikely we would get all that money granted to the city of North Platte but its primary for infrastructure projects so streets, water/sewer, repaving areas or expanding."

Canon Rath talks again with Courtney Hughbanks from Make A Wish Greater Nebraska to talk about the upcoming Kearney Evening of Wishes event going on this Thursday.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Kearney Evening of Wishes event is going on this Thursday at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney. Make A Wish Nebraska is celebrating 40 years of wishes. The 16th annual Gala is back to help fundraise money.
This year at the event, there will be guest speakers, wish families, auctions, and so much more to make the evening one you will never forget. For the money raised during the event, the proceeds will go towards Make A Wish Greater Nebraska. "All the proceeds will be going towards Greater Nebraska Wish Kids which is all the wish kiddos that are west of York County," said Courtney Hughbanks. "That includes the North Platte surrounding areas and everywhere to the Wyoming border."

Canon Rath talked with Holly Carlini about their monthly update on what's going on around the Prairie Arts Center in North Platte.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - It's that time again to talk about what is going on around the Prairie Arts Center in North Platte. With September rolling around, there are plenty of different activities, classes, and a new gallery in place. With time around the corner, the Prairie Arts Center is a busy time.
One thing that is new to the Prairie Arts Center is the new Sun and Shades gallery. The pieces of art in this gallery were created by the artist who received the invitation. "This was an invitational exhibit in our Erickson gallery, and we invited artists from across the state to participate in this gallery," said Prairie Arts Center Executive Director Holly Carlini. "We assigned them a task to either paint or draw or sculpt something either sun or shade related."

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Kearney Evening of Wishes event is happening next Thursday from the Younes Conference Center in Kearney. Make A Wish Nebraska is celebrating 40 years of wishes. The 16th annual Gala is back to help fundraise money.
The event is to help fundraise money for kids wishes in the Make A Wish Greater Nebraska region. "All of the proceeds go to Greater Nebraska Wish Kids," said Courtney Hughbanks. "That includes all kids west of York County." So far this year, the Make A Wish Greater Nebraska has about 35 kids in the pipeline looking for wishes.
